This month’s first needlepoint sample is a brilliant colour palette stitched with Colour #137 from our collection.
Colour #137 is a bold palette of turquoise, fuchsia and bright green. I originally dyed this colour combination many years ago after seeing a Christmas tree in a department store decorated with these colours.
While it is ideal for a very colourful seasonal theme, it would be appealing if you were decorating a playful children’s room!
The sample above is the central section of a design called Flaming Sunrise by Lorene Salt featured in the September/October 2021 issue of Needle Pointers published by the American Needlepoint Guild. While the pattern is a bold sunrise-themed palette of oranges, corals and yellows, our sample features an entirely different palette.
The Brilliant Colour Palette Used In Our Flaming Sunrise
We stitched the sample with size 5 perle cotton in the following colours:
- Colour #45
- Colour #73
- Colour #78
- Colour #137
- Colour #184
- DMC colours 435 & 699
Our sample is small, measuring 3 ½ inches on 18-count white mono canvas. It could quickly be finished as an ornament for gift giving OR in a box frame for those of you with children or grandchildren. In fact, this colour combination is a great addition to any children’s room!
