I have titled today’s post Heart Variation as this is a variation of a pattern I previously provided on the site.
Just a reminder that the Hearts for Hospice project was initiated in 2015 by the Greater Kansas City Needlepoint Guild to fulfill a need at a local hospice center.
Initially my plan was to share a heart each month to hopefully provide my readers with inspiration to stitch a heart for the project. Well, my group became quite enthusiastic and ended up stitching more hearts than I thought they would. So, I’ll continue to share these throughout the year.
As I mentioned above this is a heart variation. The pattern was designed by Sue Dulle and Dominique has changed some of the stitches but retained the overall design. She has used Smyrna cross, slanted gobelin and rice stitch AND leftover bits of threads. You will find the pattern in this blog post.
I would like to encourage you to stitch a heart for this worthy project. Remember, you are not restricted to stitching only this pattern. Create your own pattern – experiment! You can always check out Pinterest for more inspiration including stitch diagrams.
Once your heart is complete you may send it to the Greater Kansas City Needlepoint Guild who will provide finishing and donate locally. Otherwise you may donate the hearts to the hospice of your choice.
Thank you Sue for contacting me regarding this wonderful project AND for donating the designs.
Heartfelt wishes,
