needlepoint-mitten

This year I am continuing my mitten series and have opted to showcase a bargello needlepoint mitten this month!

Last month I featured a design using several of the same colours so here is another design option featuring these colours!

More About Our Bargello Needlepoint Mitten

The mitten measures about 2 ½ x 3 inches so it is small.  It is a simple bargello design alternating colours.  The cuff is a diagonal scotch stitch using colour 82.  This pattern could easily be acomplished by any stitcher.

I used size 5 perle cotton for the entire mitten in colours

Are You New to Bargello?

If you are new to stitching and are just getting acquainted with bargello, it is a type of needlepoint consisting of upright flat stitches laid in a mathematical pattern to create motifs. While flat stitches are basic and easy, the technique does require concentration when counting. I’ve learned this through trial and error and naturally some ripping out!

I know many of you are currently working on the Layers Of Leaves project but perhaps you might like to switch it up a bit and stitch some mittens!

Make sure you join me next month for a new mitten design. You might like to check out my Frosty Morning kit HERE. Frosty Morning was featured in Needlepoint Now.
