Late last year, I was lucky to have a needlepoint mitten published in Needlepoint Now’s November/December issue. The pattern was a sampler style featuring a variety of stitches in a popular and beautiful colour palette. Today I’d like to share a second blue mitten pattern.
As I was designing my Frosty Morning pattern, I started to think of other patterns using either ALL or SOME of the colours in the kit with perhaps the addition of a fifth colour! After all, wouldn’t it be nice to stitch up more than one mitten, so I did!!!
There is no pattern offered for the mitten displayed above. A template is available for my Frosty Morning Mitten in the Needlepoint Now November/December 2022 issue.
How Did I Stitch This Blue Mitten Pattern
The body of the mitten is stitched with a framed diagonal cashmere variation. I alternated Colours 33 provided in the kit with the addition of a tropical blend, Colour 46. The cuff is stitched with Colour 73 (included in the kit).
I used size 5 Perle cotton in
I think this colour palette is cheerful, bright and tropical! If you are not interested in stitching mittens, perhaps this will inspire a new needlepoint project OR what about some wool applique?
Most importantly, have fun and remember, experiment with colours!
You can find the Frosty Morning thread kit for the Needlepoint Now mitten published in November/December 2022 HERE.
I will be continuing with my mittens throughout this year so stay tuned for more very colourful designs!
