Our colour feature this month showcases orange. I can’t help but think of the fall season when I see this vibrant, warm colour!
When I choose patterns I always like to select them either from publications are directly from designers. On this occasion, I chose the September/October 2021 issue of Needlepoint Now. The design above is the central portion of Prime Examples designed by Melita Glavin. Melita also designed Framed Sevens with Colour Complements threads. You will find the thread kit in the shop.
Melita designed Prime Examples based on 12 different stitches. She simply arranged the stitches into a grid and then followed this with a second variation. There are two patterns offered, each measuring 3 ½ inches.
How We Used This Orange Colour Feature in a Project
Our sample measures 3 ½ inches on 18 count mono canvas. Dominique opted to stitch a different border for the sample. This needlepoint showcases our three feature colours this month
- Colour #36, an orange/red blend
- Colour #66, a fabulous blend of oranges
- Colour #74, a blend of orange and blue
Colour #66 is a wonderful blend of variations of orange ideal for any fall-themed canvas. I can’t help but think of Halloween when I see this. It is a bold blend but so worth trying.
