BLOOMIN BEAUTIES, WOOL APPLIQUE

BLOOMIN BEAUTIES Block #12!  I have mentioned previously that this is Kathleen’s wool applique version of Bloomin Beauties pattern by Kim Schaefer.  You can find this in Kim’s Flower Festival book.  She has used a heavy black flannel for her background.  Kathleen has used Colour Complements threads.

Don’t you love what she did with the leaves?!  She opted for a green solid wool as her background then added thicker chenille – I am guessing this is cotton chenille.  This is stitched in place using a backstitch.  The leaves are bordered with bullions.

The pink tulip is bordered with stem stitch and the center purple is bordered with gathered viscose tubular ribbon embellished with beads.  I cannot make out the stitch Kathleen has chosen to border the yellow section BUT these are embellished with French knots.  I think she has used a rayon for the French knots as there is a sheen.

Love it!  Thanks so much Kathleen.
