It’s a Baby Blooms Flower today!
More of Kathleen’s BABY BLOOMS wall hanging today. Remember, you will find all the posts pertaining to this project in the right side bar – Categories – wool applique.
This is her most recent wool applique project. “Baby Blooms Cushion” is designed by the talented Australian designer, Wendy Williams. The pattern measures 20 inches square and Kathleen has chosen to create this as a wall hanging. Check with your local quilt shop as they should be able to order it for you. Otherwise, Wendy offers it on her Flying Fish website.
Kathleen opted for a grey and white polka dot cotton fabric as her background – have I mentioned before I love polka dots! I think this is a fantastic choice.
Kathleen has used Colour Complements size 5 perle cotton throughout. The stem is embellished with a zig zag stitch. The outer flower is bordered with a backstitch while the inner petal is bordered with a stem stitch. She has used a combination of backstitches and fly stitches to further embellish followed with a beautiful central cluster of cast on stitches.
Absolutely love how this turned out. What do you think? Are you inspired to try out your own flower power cushion yet?
