DAY 10 of my “Ideas for a Colourful Christmas“. For those of you who regular follow my blog, you will know that I create stitch samples for my shop to give an idea of how the colour combinations stitch up. Earlier in the year I created some small individual 1 to 1 1/2 inch squares. I chose the pattern, colours and threads randomly. I started in the middle and worked my way out. I came across several in my drawer and decided I needed to use these in some way so came up with this needlepoint ornament for Christmas. I started with a size 5 perle cotton in the center, stitched around this with cotton floss, added some sparkle chainette for a bit of glitz then finished the border with the same size 5 perle that I used in the center. I ironed fusible web to a small piece of felt and ironed this onto the back. I had a scrap piece of tubular ribbon left over from a previous project that I gathered and couched in place to finish the edges. A great way to create a needlepoint ornament using very little in the way of supplies. Have fun! 🙂
