DAY 3 of my “Ideas for a Colourful Christmas“. Time to change from packaging to a Christmas ornament today. This year I’ve seen a lot of Christmas ornaments made with felt, many of which are stunning. This is my version, all be it a simplified one requiring less than 30 minutes to make. I opted for traditional Christmas colours of red and green for this project. I used my Cuttlebug and die cut the stars – this is a set from Spellbinders. I cut two stars from the set – two in green felt and two in red felt and simply alternated them. I stitched around the edge of the smaller ones on each with a buttonhole stitch in a size 5 hand dyed perle cotton. You can find my selection of threads in the shop under “Christmas“, all of which would work well. I added a button from my collection in the center of each and some thread looped at the top for a hanger. I selected some coordinating Christmas fabric I had in my stash to which I ironed on wonder under. I then cut two of the larger stars and ironed this onto the back to finish the back. I opted not to add further stitching on the outside as I will be using these for a tag but you could do so. You could also add an initial in the middle to customize this further. I hope you are enjoying these fast and easy ideas – more to come next week. I would appreciate it if you use this idea in some way to link back to me and I’d love to see photos too!
