The second Bargello that we are featuring this month is BOLD and filled with fun and juicy citrus colours.
If you happen to be joining this series for the first time, each month we feature a Bargello sample using either a particular thread OR a colour palette. Our hope is you find these inspirational to experiment with some Bargello but most importantly, COLOUR! This month we featured two bargello samples.
With summer finally arriving, we wanted to get into a fun and colourful mood, so it was only natural that we feature this fresh colour.
More About This Citrus Bargello
All our bargello samples are small measuring less than 4-inches on an 18-count mono canvas. Remember, you can stitch bargello any size you wish either for an ornament or perhaps a section of bargello in a larger needlepoint project.
We used Colour 80, 81 and 82 from the Colour Complements collection and added a solid green, Colour 907 from DMC – all in size 5 Perle cotton.
This particular pattern is a pattern found in a publication from Needlepoint Now called Contemporary Bargello by Susan Hulme.
If you are not familiar with Bargello, it is a type of needlepoint consisting of upright flat stitches laid in a mathematical pattern to create motifs. While flat stitches are basic and easy, the technique does require concentration when counting.
