This month, we are highlighting a loud and bold tropical colour palette! As you can see, the colour combinations work beautifully when it’s applied to a Bargello needlepoint project.
If you are new to the series, each month we feature one Bargello sample using a particular colour theme as inspiration. Hopefully, you will find these samples as a great jumping point to stitch some Bargello yourself OR perhaps inspire some new colour combinations for your next needlework project.
More About This Tropical Colour Palette
The sample measures approximately 2 ¾ inches on 18 count mono canvas. We have used Colour #32, Colour #45 and Colour #46 for this project.
The pattern is called Basket Weave and can be found in the Bargello Stitch book by Laura and Lynsey Angell. This is a great reference book to add to your personal library of needlework books if you don’t already have it.
If you are new to Bargello, it is a type of needlepoint consisting of upright flat stitches laid in a mathematical pattern to create motifs. While flat stitches are basic and easy, the technique does require concentration when counting.
We hope by sharing these samples that you can visualize how well over-dyed and variegated threads can work in bargello. Remember, the colours featured in this sample would look great in any needlework project.
