Well, it is the time of year we are starting to see some colourful blooms in the gardens. What better way to celebrate than with some wool applique!
More of Kathleen’s BABY BLOOMS wall hanging today. This is her most recent wool applique project. “Baby Blooms Cushion” is designed by the talented Australian designer, Wendy Williams. The pattern measures 20 inches square and Kathleen has chosen to create this as a wall hanging. Check with your local quilt shop as they should be able to order it for you. Otherwise, Wendy offers it on her website @ Flying Fish Kits.
Kathleen opted for a grey and white polka dot cotton fabric as her background – have I mentioned before I love polka dots! I think this is a fantastic choice.
Today I am featuring another gorgeous flower. The stem is embellished with double chain. The petals are bordered with stem stitches. Kathleen has placed small circles of purple wool stitched in place with detached chain stitches and highlighted in the center with a bead.
The center is a layer of purple bordered with open fly, a second circle bordered with Palestrina stitch. The center circle is slightly puffy with a lattice bordered with beautiful bullion stitches. Another beauty.
Wait until you see the next one.
