Another section of Block #10 in my new CRAZY QUILTING project – Black Butterflies.

This year I chose a bold primary colour palette for my project.  If you are interested in following this project, you can find all the posts under “Crazy Quilting – Black Butterflies” in the right sidebar under Categories.

I have mentioned numerous times now that I wanted to include button clusters in this quilt.  Part of the reason, I love button clusters AND I have a huge selection of vintage and new buttons in my stash so time to use up some of these.  Fortunately, I have a number of buttons that were too bold for other projects but work great for this one.  Two vintage buttons, one newer button and a baseball button.  I added some metallic charms and a few beads to complete this cluster.

The seam on the right is feather stitch using size 8 perle cotton with bead flowers. The seam treatment in the middle is Kreinik size 8 braid accented with size 8 perle cotton – all straight stitches in a zig zag pattern.  For those of you who are new to crazy quilting, I believe you will find size 8 perle cotton a very versatile size for use in your projects. The size 5 perle can be a bit bulky but size 8 is great. Have fun stitching.
