CRAZY QUILTING

Block #7 in my new CRAZY QUILTING project – Black Buttferlies, the final reveal.  I generally work on one medium size crazy quilt project annually.  This year I chose a completely different colour combination from last year in a bold primary colour palette.  You can find all the other posts pertaining to this project under “Black Butterflies” in the right sidebar under Categories.

It all comes together here.  You can see where I placed my button cluster.  Love the seam treatment in the lower right and plan to repeat these with some new variations in the future.  I think the floral applique motif works well and the butterfly and bee charms.

The seam treatment at the top started with a braided trim base – I picked up this trim a number of years ago on a trip to Paris so it has come a long way!  I stitched in the center of this with blue Kreinik 1/16” ribbon.  I used a template to draw half circles then stitched using perle cotton chain stitch.

I made the mistake of using what I thought was a white chalk pen to mark on the darker fabrics.  Sadly, you will likely see some faint hints of this.  Anyone know how to get rid of it?  I tried washing it with no success.

Any good marking pen for darker fabrics ?

That’s it for Block #7, onto #8!  You can find my perle cottons in the SHOP.
