EMBROIDERY, Art Quilting A lovely example of EMBROIDERY today, specifically ART QUILTING.

Karen wrote me some time ago saying she was working on an “orange” project using a variety of my threads as well as others.  Interestingly, I have found orange is not one of the most popular colours – I personally love it as I think it can really make a project pop.

Karen writes, “my Study in Orange” is finished and was on display in the Evergreen Quilt Show in Green Bay Wisconsin.  It was part of the 2017 Fiber Artisan Challenge.  Using Joen Wolfrom’s color wheel each member of the Fiber Artisan’s drew a colour.  We could then use any theme, technique, tint, tone or shade of the colour picked to create a 16” square.  We could add other colours, but the piece was to read predominately as the colour chosen.”

The background fabric is a purchased print.  The top embroidered piece measures 12” square with an orange mat separating the top piece from the bottom 16” square of the same fabric.

Karen included a photo of how the 24 pieces were hung in the show.  These would have been even more beautiful “in person”.
EMBROIDERY, art quilting Thank you Karen.  Hopefully you have inspired some of my customers and readers to give ORANGE a go!
