NEEDLEPOINT, Stitch Sample, Colour Complements threads I am excited to share a lovely NEEDLEPOINT STITCH SAMPLE today showcasing a selection of Colour Complements threads.

I have mentioned before that I have a group of ladies who stitch my needlepoint samples for me.  They are all members of the Victoria Embroidery Guild and have a satellite canvas group meeting once a month.  On my last email I was asked if I would like a sample stitched using any of the leftover threads they had.  Well, of course I did!

The sample above was stitched by Thea using leftover “bits” of threads.  All of the threads would have been very small lengths likely no more than one meter or yard.  She opted to come up with a contemporary original pattern which she titled “Leftovers” – aptly named!  She used scotch stitch with tent stitch partial grid in a solid black.  She was inspired by an old Anchor book of Canvas work stitches.  This sample measures approximately 3 ½” on 18 count canvas.

Thank you Thea.

I have to admit when I first saw this sample I thought of a design I had seen on a cover of Needlepoint Now from July/August 2009 called “The Bandy Brook” by Patricia Parra.
