rainforest-colours

Time to celebrate some rainforest colours.

Why rainforest?

I look forward to fall each year when the days are sunny and the nights are cool.  While I enjoy the summer I am less tolerant of the heat as I age.  Many of you likely live in different areas that experience the brilliant reds and oranges when the leaves turn.  Since I am on the west coast, the colours of brown and green are seen every day in our rainforests. So, these remind me of walking through our coastal forests.

Colour #35 is featured in the above heart.  It is a fall blend of green and brown.  This heart design is two sections divided by a band.  The band is stitched with Colour #35 and accented with Colour #49 (olive greens) using size 5 perle cotton.  Dominique stitched the area above the band with whatever leftover bits of threads she had on hand.  She has used green but a variety of other colours as well.

The area below the band are alternating rice and Smyrna stitches using Colour #35 and Colour #49 as well as some Kreinik braid in green for an accent.

The heart is finished with a purchased braid and the addition of a pearl and bugle beads.  Dominique always like to add a bit of “bling”.

Make sure you read more about the Hearts for Hospice project.
