Always fun when I receive some lovely EMBROIDERY in the mail. I have shared Kerry’s projects previously as she is a prolific stitcher and yes, one of my customers too. On this occasion I would like to share a project that Kerry has created using regular DMC floss.
Kerry has used Mary Corbet’s “Stitch Sampler Alphabet” for the pattern which is an Ebook that you can purchase on Mary’s site – check it out HERE. Kerry mentioned she loved this book AND learned a bunch of new stitches and stitch combinations. An excellent resource and one I have myself but have not yet used – I will Mary :)!
The compacts measure approximately 3” in diameter overall with 2 mirrors inside, one is regular view and one is magnified. They came with a metal disc to wrap the embroidery around for mounting. She was impressed with how heavy they were considering the price and although they shipped from China, it only took about ten days (in the US) to receive them. Check them out HERE.
As I mentioned above, she used DMC stranded floss which is readily available. She either used one or two strands. She sized the letters down to fit the compact so some of the curves in the patterns were tight. She used a layer of Warm and Natural batting between the disc and the fabric and E6000 glue to mount them to the compact.
As you can see by the photo, she made quite a few. They are Christmas gifts for some very lucky recipients. As always, thank you for sharing your talent Kerry.
