This month we are featuring Colour #46 which is a tropical colour palette which is a blend that effortlessly marries the vibrant hues of turquoise and lemon-lime. We revisited this in a previous post earlier this month, discussing the power of a simplified palette, one that harmoniously unites just three distinct colours.
In today’s blog, we are thrilled to present this palette in a needlepoint sample. With the strategic placement of colours, our sample creates a sense of cohesion that dances across the canvas, giving life to the captivating pattern we proudly showcase in our post.
This tropical colour palette transports me to a realm of vibrancy and cheerfulness. The turquoise reminds me of tranquil oceans, while the lemon-lime breaks through the cool shades, adding a zest of colour reminiscent of fresh citrus fruits.
Each stitch in this palette encapsulates the essence of a tropical paradise. How does this palette resonate with you? What emotions and imagery do you see?
How we used this tropical colour palette
The sample measures 3 inches on 18 count mono canvas. It was designed by Laura Perin and called Autumn Square. The pattern is available as a complimentary PDF on the Rainbow Gallery website.
We started with the three colours in our original palette:
Metallic was added, which we felt showcased the design. You could quickly expand this palette with the addition of Colour #66, a blend of orange OR perhaps colour #67, a blend of yellows. Both of these are bold options. Don’t forget some different values of lemon or lime. How about some corals?
We hope our needlepoint samples provide a basis to expand on a palette. Remember, colour is individual. Experiment and see what you come up with.
