Last week we shared a fun holiday tree pattern to celebrate the Christmas season. “Holly Jolly” is a whimsical tree pattern designed by Dawn Donnelly. The pattern is available in Needlepoint Now’s July/August 2022 issue.
I mentioned in my previous post that I wanted to experiment with various colours of Colour Complements threads. While our last tree was red and white we thought it fun to demonstrate using greens, reds and a wee bit of yellow! AND, we added a brown trunk which is more realistic for this tree.
What Colours Did We Use For Our Seasonl Tree Design?
We used size 5 Perle cotton in the following colours:
AND we changed a few of the stitches adding cashmere at the top in colour 37 and byzantine in the middle using colours 14 & 18.
As always, experiment with colour AND stitches to see what you come up with.
While this could be finished as an ornament, Dominique added some stitching to the background canvas in other samples and will be using these as card inserts for Christmas.
