I mentioned in my last post that the inspiration behind my summer collection was lime green. It is a bold colour and not one that will appeal to all. It has become one of my favourite colours to use in needlework projects. It can add that “pop” that you sometimes want to achieve.
The sample above reminds me of lemons, limes and oranges – what do you think?
Colour 80 is a citrus blend of lime green, yellow and pale orange. Colour 81 is a blend of lime green and variations of aqua. As you can see from the sample above, they look gorgeous combined in a project.
Many stitchers may have reservations about using such a bright colour in their projects. If you ask me, this would be the perfect colour to use for any Spring or Summer themed project! What a fun blend of juicy colours!
Using Summer Colour As Inspiration for this project
We chose 40-count white linen for our sample which measures approximately 2 ½ inches. We used one strand of floss in each of the two colours. This particular design is one element of a larger cross-stitch pattern designed by 2×2 Stitch Art. Ilana has a wonderful selection of cross-stitch patterns so make sure you visit her Etsy shop.
The little touch aqua blends the bright and bold colours together. We kept the cooler shades as the border to really create harmony and balance in the overall project.
I’m thrilled with the result! It’s fun and bright, but using one strand of the floss gives the overall pattern a more balanced look, offering white space for the eyes to visually “breathe.”
I’ll be sharing additional samples this month featuring all three colours in the collection. Make sure you follow the blog to see all the samples. You won’t want to miss them!
