heart-greeting-card

Throughout the year I’ve been sharing a number of larger needlepoint hearts for the Hearts for Hospice project but today I want to share a small heart greeting card.

The ladies in my stitch group have been experimenting with stitching different size hearts and this particular one is smaller making it ideal to create a greeting card! This is a great way to create some versatility in incorporating needlepoint ornaments into any craft project.

The heart measures about 2 ½ inches and was attached to the front of kraft cardstock.  The design was randomly stitched so there is no specific pattern.

What colours were used to stitch this heart greeting card?

Once the heart was completed Dominique glued it to the front of the card and finished it with a braided border, again using size 5 Perle cotton.

This project could easily be stitched with leftover bits of size 5 Perle cotton in your stash.

We hope these small samples are giving you some ideas.

Always nice to have a few cards around. Having said these, cards appear to be given a lot less frequently than they used to be. This is especially true since texting and emails have taken over.

BUT don’t underestimate the pleasure in both giving and receiving one of these beauties! Not only is it a creative way to send greetings, but it doubles as a beautiful gift as the receiver can enjoy a lovely needlepoint ornament.
