Today we’re highlighting Colour #73 – a blue needlepoint stitch sample. Colour #73 is the final colour in my new 2021 Spring collection. It features a beautiful blend of pale turquoise and aqua. The colour combination reminds me of the familiar “colours” you’d associate with Easter and also the pale blue ocean of the Caribbean!

The sample is stitched on 18-count mono canvas in the video in a Size 5 Perle cotton.
I’ve opted to stitch in a vertical straight pattern to highlight the subtle variations seen in this colour combination.
You will find this stitch in Volume 2 of the Stitches books on page 109. There are five volumes of the Stitches books by Ruth Schmuff and Kathy Holicky; both are excellent reference books. I would recommend that you add these to your library.
I stitch these samples for my stitch library, but I hope they will allow you to “see” how the colours blend and the appearance of the colour variations when stitched. While this gives you an excellent visual, it doesn’t come close to seeing how vibrant and beautiful the colours are in real life.
I hope to provide more time-lapse videos of each colour that I currently sell, but as you can see, it takes me quite a while! Thank you for your patience!
