christmas-ornament-cross-stitch

Well I hope you’ve all been considering stitching some Christmas ornaments this year!  Or, perhaps you have already finished – I know I’m an optimist.  If you’ve already stitched your selection for this year, how about this idea for next year!

Most of us tend to lean towards the traditional palette of red and green for Christmas but personally, I like to experiment a bit.  A number of years ago I decided to decorate my mantle with a natural theme of bird nests, feathers, branches and some copper ornaments.  I think this particular colour combination would look fabulous with copper.

The pattern is called The Bright Flake.  It is designed by Tracey Horner of Ink Circles.  I tried to find the pattern on the Ink Circles website with no luck but did find it HERE

This sample measures about 2 ½ inches on 32 count linen.  The linen was hand dyed in a brown shade.  Dominique has used 2 strands of floss in five colours including colours #35, 36, 37, 48 and 61.

I really love how these colours look together.  All excluding Colour #61 are fall themed.

Next week I will be starting my Colourful Christmas series. I try to do this every year to provide some seasonal inspiration for stitching. You won’t want to miss my posts!
