What are Embroidery Samplers?
Good question! Embroidery samplers are small quantities of a selection of threads dyed in the same colour combination. They are randomly dyed and the colour combinations constantly change. Why – because they tend to be popular AND I dye them with leftover bits of dyes.
They are fabulous for those of you who do wool applique and crazy quilting.
Some of the contents of the samplers are regular stock products such as the perle cotton, floss and silk perle. The flat ribbon is a product I sell ONLY in the samplers as is the rayon metallic.
Contents vary slightly with each sampler but generally include
- Size 8 perle cotton
- 6 strand cotton floss
- Flat ribbon
- Silk perle
- Rayon metallic
What is flat ribbon?
Flat ribbon is a viscose knitted product which is not widely seen in the needlework market. It can be used in place of any “flat” ribbon such as Neon Rays as an example. Note that the flat ribbon is thicker than other flat ribbons so not the best option for layered stitches such as Rhodes or waffle.
What is silk perle?
Silk perle is a 3 ply twisted filament silk. If you haven’t tried it yet, please do. It is glorious to stitch with, my favourite AND “smooth as silk”!
