Intarsia; colour complements embroidery floss

INTARSIA iii

I am excited to introduce Intarsia iii designed by Lois Caron and stitched by one of the members of my stitch group, Dominique.  I LOVE this!

he design measures approximately 6 ½” square and is stitched on 24 count congress cloth which was spray painted providing an antique backdrop for her stitching.  Dominique has been stitching for many years and you can certainly see this with her choice of colours.  She has used 3 strands of floss throughout the design alternating between light and medium values in SEVEN different colours of Colour Complements cotton floss.  Several of the flosses were “fussy” cut so she could create the light and darker values.

You can find the pattern at Thistle Needleworks or it could be ordered through your local needlework shop.  You can find more of Lois Caron designs at www.APNeedleArts.com

Thank you Dominique for this gorgeous project and Lois Caron for a beautiful design.

I will be taking a short blog break over the Easter weekend returning to regular posting on Wednesday April 24th. Enjoy your Easter.
