Earlier this month we shared a beautiful tropical colour inspired pattern featured in the March/April 2021 issue of Needle Pointers called Tahitian Treat. The pattern is designed by Melita Glavin who also happened to design our Framed Sevens project featured in our shop.
Since our colour feature is Colour #84 this month, I thought it would be fun to show another small sample illustrating this colour combined with a number of other colours.
The sample above measures about 2 ½ inches square stitched on an 18 count mono canvas. The full pattern for Tahitian Treat measures about 12×12 inches on 18 count canvas so this is only a very small section.
Colour #84 provides a great starting point for creating a palette as it combines several colours including fuchsia, berry red and yellow.
Colours We Used For This Tropical Colour Pattern
The combination of colours we used for Tahitian Treat are all reminiscent of the petals and colours of tropical flowers. All of these colours can be found in the Colour Complements collection:
Our sample was stitched with size 5 Perle in all of the above colours. Melita talked about achieving vibrancy and movement through the use of colours and I think we have definitely achieved this, don’t you?
As I mentioned above, you will find the pattern in the March/April 2021 issue of Needle Pointers published by the American Needlepoint Guild.
