crazy quilting; colour complements embroidery threads

Another section of Block #11 in my current CRAZY QUILTING project. Prior to sourcing my narrow rayon ric rac, I purchased a wider one that I found in a quilting store. I started by laying this over the seam followed by stitching in place using a size 8 perle cotton in a solid green zig zag chain stitch. I have had some of the sequin leaves in my stash for years but they were a bit too bold for any of my other projects. BUT, they worked great here stitched with a green rayon.

I duplicated the zig zag chain on the left.  Once I completed these seams, I felt there was a bit too much open space so have added a bow with a small butterfly charm.  I use hand dyed seam binding for the bow.

The half pinwheels were stitched using a rayon, some petite very velvet and some small flower sequins.

If you missed the last post of my Black Butterflies project you can find it HERE and a second one HERE. That’s it for now.  Final reveal of Block #11 next time.
