This week I will be featuring a series of three NEEDLEPOINT stitch samples featuring Colour #189.
Susan is a member of the Victoria Embroiderers’ Guild and she stitched all three samples I will share with you this week. This particular sample measures about 3” on 18 count canvas.
Susan opted to start with the central part of “Molecules of Fire” by Orna Willis. It is a free pattern from the Caron Collection available HERE.
She then used a modified Long Arm Cross to surround the center, an Upright Cross over 2 threads for the outside border and Woven Plait stitch for the triangles. The triangles fold down and are laced together through the upright crosses to form the back of the ornament. You can find the Woven Plait stitch from I Stitches, Volume #3.
You can find Colour #189 in the shop. You can coordinate solids and Kreinik 1/16″ ribbon as you wish.
Thank you Susan for a lovely original sample!
