CRAZY QUILTING, hand dyed embroidery threads

More of Block #7 in my  CRAZY QUILTING Black Butterflies project.  You can find all the other posts pertaining to this project under “Black Butterflies” in the right sidebar under Categories.

I started this section by dyeing a lace applique floral motif I had in my stash.  This was stitched in place on the leaves and flowers with Kreinik #8 braid.  I wanted to add bits of black and white to this quilt so the center of each of the flowers is a brad.  I picked these up many years ago at a scrapbook store and was delighted to put them to use.  I added the butterfly charm at the top.

The seam treatment at the bottom is a variation of a treatment from Kathy Shaw’s “Fancy Seam Designs” – a fantastic book to add to your collection.  I started with elongated herringbone.  I then laced a ribbon tacked in place with Kreinik 1/16” ribbon.  At the top and bottom I added detached chains using silk perle.  In between the herringbone I added flower shaped sequins with bead centers.  Am very pleased with the results.  The final reveal of this block coming soon.
