CRAZY QUILTING, hand dyed embroidery threads My medium dusty crazy quilting journey is complete and what a journey it has been!  I generally plan on stitching one crazy quilt project annually as most of these projects are larger wall quilts.  This extended past a year but must admit it has been the most enjoyable project I have worked on to date.  Why?  It was a departure from any previous colour scheme I have completed and yes, my favourite to date.  The fabric came from my collection with the addition of some beautiful samples from a very special shop in Vermont, Delectable Mountain Cloth.  If I am ever in Vermont again I plan to visit this shop!  The owner creates lovely crazy quilting packs.

I decided on this project following a workshop with Judith Baker Montano in La Veta I attended a few years ago.  Jude always shares all of her completed quilts which are so inspiring.  Since I had completed a Dark Dusty the year before I chose a medium dusty and WOW, am I glad I did!  As I mentioned, my favourite colour scheme to date 🙂

There are a total of nine blocks measuring 10 1/2″ square.  They are sewn together and I am in the process of deciding on borders etc.

This section is one of my favourites, silk ribbon French knots, cheater roses, leaf stitches and ribbonwork flowers.  I have also added some buds using my previously stocked viscose tubular ribbon. I added some silk perle French knots to fill in some areas.

YES, I will be showing the completed project once it has the borders added and it is quilted.  I am deciding how best to finish it so please don’t expect this soon!  I am at the “idea” stage currently.

That’s it for this week.  I’ll be taking a short blog break returning to blogging later next week.  The SHOP remains open. Until then…..
