WOOL APPLIQUE. Kathleen’s version of Bloomin Beauties pattern by Kim Schaefer. This is Block #19.
You can find this pattern in Kim’s Flower Festival book. Kathleen used a heavy black flannel for her background and a variety of Colour Complements threads.
WOW, WOW, WOW! OK, another of my favourites. Honestly, I love everything about it.
Starting with the leaves, Kathleen has chosen to border them with Palestrina stitch. She has added pieces of ric rac for the veins which is couched then embellished with French knots and beads.
All of the flowers are ovals/circles of solid pinks and orange. The centers are all velvet in various coordinating colours. The outer flower petals are stitched using buttonhole stitch and all the centers are embellished with a combination of French knots and beads.
This block really makes me want to start a summer project with those glorious colours. Thank you Kathleen!
