A fantastic and original example of CROSS STITCH today. I would like to introduce, Rachel in Tasmania, Australia. Rachel has an Etsy shop, Fuzzy Fox Designs where she creates and sells her original cross stitch patterns. So, a little about Rachel.
“I am a lover of all sorts of crafts but my two greatest loves are drawing and cross stitch. Mum taught me to cross stitch when I was 8 years old. She did it for a season and rarely does it now but for me cross stitch has become something of an obsession. I’ve done many in the last 25 years, mostly to give away for birthdays and those sorts of things. My favourite designs are quirky, cute, quick and easy to stitch.
I’ve been thinking about starting a creative business to balance out my “real job” (as a scientist) for years but it has been difficult for all sorts of reasons until now. So here I am, running my own little shop with about 90 cross stitch patterns I have designed and stitched. I get so much joy from seeing other people enjoying working on my designs.”
Rachel stitched the Variegated Flower panel above designed with the intermediate stitcher in mind. It includes whole stitches, moderate backstitch and French knots or beads. She designed it specifically to showcase Colour Complements #188 which is a lovely fall blend of golden yellow, orange, greens and reds. The background is 19 count Aida. For those of you who have followed me for some time you will likely remember this was my focus colour for Laura Perin’s Starry Nights pattern that I stitched several years ago.
Naturally, you could use any colours you wished but must admit, I sure like #188. You can read more about Rachel at Fuzzy Fox Designs and you may like to pick up one of her PDF patterns to stitch a little something yourself. THANK YOU RACHEL!
AND, just in case you want to see the entire project.
