BLOOMIN BEAUTIES, wool applique

BLOOMIN BEAUTIES Block #18!  This is Kathleen’s wool applique version of Bloomin Beauties pattern by Kim Schaefer.  You can find this in Kim’s Flower Festival book.  She has used a heavy black flannel for her background.  Kathleen has used many of my Colour Complements threads.

Kathleen is very fond of using Kaffe Fassett fabrics although I must admit I have not seen all that many in this particular project – wait until the next one!!  She has chosen a colourful print for the center of her leaves and bordered this with a coral stitch.  The leaves are bordered with stem stitch and the stem has straight stitches along the right half.

The blue patterned wool is bordered with stem stitch in a solid perle cotton laced with a rayon thread.  The star shape is bordered with I think Palestrina stitch.

I think the sparkle chainette couched in a pattern to define the star shaped was particularly inventive.

All and all, a beauty!  Thanks Kathleen.
