crazy quilting

A section of Block #11 in my current CRAZY QUILTING project – Black Butterflies. As you will know by now, I chose a bold primary colour palette for this project. You can find all the posts pertaining to this if you look in the right sidebar under Categories – Crazy Quilting – Black Butterflies.

I started the center seam treatment using a red and white polka dot ribbon over the seam. Above this I used a circle template and traced half circles which I then stitched with half button wheels using a green rayon thread. The pistil stitches are Petite Very Velvet and Silk Perle straight stitches on either side accented with beads. I accented each of these wheels with a flower shaped sequin.

I used Sharon Boggon’s heart template for the hearts. These are stitched with back stitch using a straw thread and accented with cheater roses in the center. To the left of this is a feather stitch based with detached chains filled with Petite Very Velvet. The seam treatment in the upper right is a cretan stitch using Silk Perle accented with Kreinik Size 8 Braid straight stitches.
