WOOL APPLIQUE

WOOL APPLIQUE, Sue Spargo More of Uschi’s WOOL APPLIQUE today.  If you remember this is Sue Spargo’s “Chicks” sampler quilt.  I love the various colours Uschi has used in this selection of chicks.

The yellow chick on the left is heading off for a Sunday stroll with walking cane in hand.  Instead of using wool as a base for the wing, Uschi has opted to create a lovely needle lace wing.  The “bonnet” is created with picot stitch and I’m unsure of what stitch she used to create the rim of the bonnet.

The center chick has a lovely turquoise velvet wing embellished with French knots and bordered with cast-ons.  The body is accented with tiny wool circles highlighted with beads and bordered with bullions and stem stitch.  Love the drizzle stitch feathers.

The cream chick wing is fly stitch embellished with French knots.  Body is bordered with buttonhole and accented with French knots using sparkle chainette.

She has used a great selection of both stitches and my hand dyed embroidery threads too!  Thanks Uschi.
