This month, we are featuring various stitched samples highlighting the beauty of a well-loved traditional holiday colour palette. While I don’t always decorate with green and red, it remains one of my favourite palettes for my seasonal needlework over Christmas.
The featured pattern above is a complimentary pattern by the very talented Ada Haydon from EyeCandy Needleart. You will find Bargello Bonus pattern HERE.
What are the Traditional Holiday Colour Palettes?
A traditional holiday colour palette brings together those classic, festive hues we all love—rich reds, vibrant greens, and crisp whites, with a touch of gold and silver for that little magical sparkle that makes projects pop. These are timeless colours that, I feel, capture the spirit of the season. You can never go wrong with any combination of these, as they create stunning designs that never go out of style.
Two Patterns using a Traditional Holiday Colour Palette
We have provided two samples of the same pattern for comparison. The sample on the left features Colour #187 (a blend of reds) accompanied by white, gold, and silver metallic.
The sample on the right features Colour #187 (reds), Colour #18 (greens) and Colour #184 (spring greens) along with a tiny bit of white. Both samples are stitched on 18-count white mono canvas measuring approximately 2 ½ x 3 ¼ inches.
Dominique chose to add background stitches and a frame with metallic thread. Both the samples will be used for guild gift cards in the future.
Hopefully we’ve inspired some red and green needlework to celebrate the season.
