I personally love colour palettes that remind me of the transition of the season. This golden palette in particular reminds me of the slow fade of summer. Autumn gracefully arrives, painting the world in a breathtaking tapestry of warm hues.
As temps cool down, we cozy back up indoors and embark on creative projects, while finding inspiration in the colours of the season. We did exactly that when creating this particular leaf design in our series.
What other techniques did we use to complement the golden palette
Using a golden palette is fantastic as it gives a nearly “blank” canvas to play around and experiment with different techniques. In this project, we also let our creativity run free, using different stitches to elevate the design by giving it added dimension and embellishments.
To create something similar, you will need to following colours:
The leaf itself was created using a diamond ray stitch. This stitch creates a diamond-shaped lattice, resembling the delicate veins that run through fall leaves. When used in needlework, it adds an element of sophistication and grace to the overall design. Whether you incorporate the diamond ray stitch as a focal point or as an embellishment, it elevates your stitching project to a new level, showcasing your skill and attention to detail.
We alternated Colours #75 and #77 with 3 strands of floss. The background is slanted gobelin stitch using floss alternating with rows of metallic blue.
The leaf is outlined with an orange metallic and beads. By incorporating beads along the edges of the leaf, you add a touch of glimmer and depth to the design.
