february-mini-sampler

Last month I introduced my mini sampler series and today I would like to share my February Mini Sampler

I mentioned previously that if you are a member of the American Needlepoint Guild then you may be familiar with “holed up minis”.  If not, these are small projects introduced weekly on the American Needlepoint Guild website complimentary to members and non-members.  Various designers offer these projects to help keep stitchers focused on positive things during COVID.

Today’s mini sampler is one of the holed-up minis found on the American Needlepoint Guild website.  The Diagonal Stitches Sampler is designed by Marilyn Owen.  You can find the pattern HERE

A quick note about the mini sampler series.

My plan is to post one sampler each month with the first posted in January. All are stitched with Colour Complements threads. You can find the mini sampler posts in the right sidebar under “mini samplers”. I mentioned last month that I would be posting either original or sourced patterns so have provided the link above for Marilyn’s design.

So, let’s get started with the Marilyn’s Diagonal Stitches Sampler.

Johanna has opted to stitch the sampler using 3 strands of cotton floss for ALL the stitches.  Naturally you could substitute size 5 perle cotton if you wished.

  • Milanese Variation = alternate colours 162 & 33
  • Diagonal Mosaic = alternate colours 61 & 65
  • Corduory Stitch = alternate colours 64 & 67, 67 for the wider rows
  • Patio Cashmere = colour 64 alternating with colour 67
  • Double Nobuko = colour 64
  • Hesitation Stitch = colours 64, small stitch colour 61
  • Broken Byzantine = alternate colours 162 & 33

As colour #162 is a discontinued colour I would substitute with any aqua/green floss.

I would appreciate some feedback ladies. Do you want to see more mini samplers?

Thank you Johanna and Marilyn!
