This is a lovely sample today called Medieval Moments designed by Carolyn Mitchell. Carolyn is a well known Canadian designer who I was very fortunate to take a workshop with when I first started counted canvas work. I learned a lot Carolyn, thank you!
Medieval Moments is a pattern of a collection of eight ornaments. Personally, I love these sorts of patterns as you can stitch all eight ornaments OR you can combine patterns to create new designs! Infinite possibilities.
This is a great example of how you can take “part” of a design and add your own twist. Dominique opted to take the center section of one of the ornament patterns for this sample. She then added her own borders.
I would also like to point out that flat ribbon has been used in the center which I think looks fabulous. My flat ribbon is sold in my sampler packs. It works well as an alternative to neon rays or any type of flat ribbon. It is a bit thicker and stretchy but fun to play with.
Some of the stitches used in this design are large cross stitch, gobelin and long diagonal.
The following colours were used. All are available in the shop.
- Colour #57
- Colour #60
- Kreinik Braid #4
It is lovely to see a combination of both spring and fall colours in this sample. Colour #57 is a lovely rich blend of browns while Colour #60 is from my spring collection this year.
