I love Bargello – do you?
Contemporary Bargello is a pattern first published in Needlepoint Now starting in the May/June 2002 issue. It is designed by Susan Hulme. The project was offered over a six month time frame. The entire pattern is available for purchase from Needlepoint Now.
I have mentioned Dominique several times. She is one of the talented and advanced stitchers from my stitch group. Dominique is always stitching. One day when I sat next to her the following conversation ensued. I should say that Dominique is originally from France and has the most wonderful French accent. I wish you could hear it…..
So, what are you going to work on next. You know, I have a lot of your threads left over from various projects. I would love to see you stitch a larger project using all my threads, similar to the Intarsia project you stitched last year. Okay. What about something with bargello. I have an idea of a pattern.
Sounds like a great idea!
So, off she went that day. About two weeks later when I attended group Dominique had stitched Contemporary Bargello for ME! As you can imagine, I was thrilled with the results. She has used all Colour Complements threads with the exception of a couple.
The design was described as “big, bold and beautiful – this different approach to a classic technique. A wonderful project that will brighten your spirits while you are working on it as well as any area you wish to display it. Gather up your stitching materials and come along with us on this exciting journey of colour”.
I think it might make a great pillow.
What do you think? Colourful?
Thank you Dominique – I LOVE it!
