ART QUILTING
I LOVE receiving photos in my inbox. Especially when they are from one of my customers using Colour Complements threads. I have said it before, I have GREAT and talented customers.
These are some examples of ART QUILTING. Now you may be asking, what is art quilting?
Art quilting, sometimes known as quilt art, mixed media art quilts or fiber art quilts. Art quilts use both modern and traditional quilting techniques to create art. Usually these quilts are based on the designer’s experiences, images and ideas rather than a traditional pattern. The technique has more in common with fine arts than it does with traditional quilting. These designs are created for hanging on a wall or perhaps mounted as sculpture.
The first example is about 9 ¼ inches square. The background is a hand-dyed pink and lavenders silk with a stitched interpretation of the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.
The second is one of her blocks from a mini series of winter themed art quilts. Each of the blocks in this series measures 13 inches square. She included a close-up so you can see the feather stitching using the Kreinik braid and perle cotton in the circular stitching.
I can hardly wait to see more as you progress through the series. Thank you for sharing Sheila.
There are lots of perle cottons to choose from in the SHOP.
