needlepoint, stitch sampler

Last December I posted about a needlepoint stitch sampler I created here on my blog as well as in Needlepoint Nation on Facebook. I mentioned in the post that this was a great way to use up the leftover “bits” of threads from projects.  Well, I did it AGAIN!

It is stitched on 18 count mono canvas (eggshell).  It is the same size as previously measuring 6 1/2 x 6 inches – this just happened to be a size of left over canvas I had so not pre-planned.  I used several books as reference, all of which can be purchased at your local needlework shop.

Stitches – Volumes 1, 2, 3 by Ruth Schmuff & Kathy Holicky

Stitches to Go by Suzanne Howren & Beth Robertson

The Needlepoint Book by Jo Ippolito Christensen

I started stitching in the bottom left corner and randomly stitched as I went adding stitches I wanted to experiment with from each of the above books.  When I posted both on my blog and in FB previously, I had several comments and questions, one of which “had I kept track of my stitches”!  Well, I did for this one AND I decided to provide you with a PDF- Needlepoint Stitch Sampler just in case you want to stitch one too!  Now remember, I AM NOT A DESIGNER so this is experimental and a compilation of my notes.  I’ve included the thread colours I used too 🙂

I will be taking my annual summer blog break commencing today and will return to posting on Monday August 31st.  I plan to enjoy a bit of relaxation time stitching and have new colour combinations coming in September too.  The shop will remain open through this time.  I have lots of NEW projects coming this fall so see you then!
