Last week I shared two blackwork samples and today I’d like to share the remaining two using my new fall collection colours.
I discussed in my previous post that we opted to stitch Blackwork samples for our counted thread technique featuring the fall collection colours.
You can find the pattern for these leaves in Blackwork Made Easy by Lesley Wilkins.
I know many of my customers enjoy Blackwork. If you are not familiar with Blackwork it is a form of embroidery generally using black thread on a white background, hence the name Blackwork.
More about these blackwork stitched samples
Each of the samples is stitched on 32-count cream linen which showcases the colours beautifully.
Colour #75 shown above is a lovely blend of orange, golden yellow and green. I was inspired by leaves laying on the grass in the fall.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t look forward to raking those leaves – I’d much rather be stitching!
Colour #76 is a blend of dark and medium blue, golden yellow and green. If you had read the blog post regarding the inspiration behind these colours, you would know that Colour #76 was something that was created by accident!
To create a Blackwork sample similar to this one, you will only need 1 strand of floss. In case you are wondering, the blue outline is DMC #930. Each leaf measures about 3 ½ x 2 ½ inches.
I hope you find the samples inspiring for a future project. Perhaps one of the 2022 SAL’s?
