sparkle-colour-72

We could all use a little sparkle in our lives don’t you think?

Terry Dryden has created this lovely design featured in the July/August 2020 edition of Needlepointers.

Needlepointers is the official publication of the American Needlepoint Guild.  It is published six times annually and subscriptions are through membership in the guild.  The focus of the magazine is the art of needlepoint including educational articles, projects, charted designs, painted canvas stitch guides, book and video review and local chapter news and events.  You can visit the ANG website for more information.

A bit more about sparkle!  This is actually a larger design and throughout this week I will be sharing three samples.  All are “versions” of sparkle meaning they are not the full design but portions of the design.

Let’s start with the first sample.

This one measures about 3 ½ inches on 18 count mono canvas.  Dominique has stitched the central portion of the pattern in colour #72 (corals) and colour #30 bordered with colour #66 (orange).  It really makes the center pop don’t you think?  This is bordered with a bargello band stitched in colour #71 (aqua/turquoise/green) and colour #23 which is a spring blend.  The outer medallion flowers are stitched with colour #70.  She has framed this with a border of DMC #435 in a size 5 perle cotton (tan).

If you would like to stitch this mini version of sparkle you will need one skein of each of these colours

  • Colour 70 and 30 in size 5 perle cotton
  • Colours 23, 66, 71 and 72 in cotton floss

Remember, the pattern is available in the July/August edition of Needlepointers. Stay tuned for more sparkle on Wednesday!
