NEEDLEPOINT, Colour Complements Threads

A NEEDLEPOINT stitch sample today showcasing Colour #43 from my new Summer Collection.

Many of you are already aware that I have a satellite group of members of the Victoria Embroiderers’ Guild who specialize in canvas work stitching samples for me.  When I completed my summer collection, I requested the ladies choose one pattern of their choice and combine colours as they wished from the collection.  I think it shows how colour can really change the look of any pattern and hopefully all the samples will provide inspiration for you in future projects.  I will showcase these samples all week so check back.

The pattern chosen is one of Freda Murfin’s “Tidbits” available on her website, Freda’s Fancy Stitching HERE.  “Tidbits” are nine small patterns measuring a little under 3 ½” square on 18 count canvas.  These would be great combined in a group or individually as ornaments.

Colour #43 is a blend of aquamarine and a dusty blue which has a hint of a hue of a purple – only a hint!

Lorna, one of the members of the group has stitched this sample.  Lorna chose a second colour from my Summer Collection, #45 which is a dark blend of aquamarine, olive green and purple to complement.  She also added a solid size 8 perle cotton in purple in the center area and for some glitz, Kreinik 1/16” ribbon Colour #11 (new) and Kreinik size 8 braid Colour #10 which is a turquoise.  I really love the addition of the Kreinik ribbon here.  She also added a size 5 perle in a solid turquoise/blue shade.  Thank you Lorna!
