FRENCH KNOTS FRENCH KNOTS!  There are a total of about 11,300 FRENCH KNOTS!  Kerry is graciously sharing this gorgeous example of embroidery today.  It was created as a gift several years ago for her Mom who chose the background fabric.

Now this project required a lot of patience and time.  She tells me it took 60 hours and yes, she kept track of her time just out of interest.  It is mounted in an 18″ quilting hoop.  Kerry used 3 strands of DMC floss and did a 3 wrap French knot matching the colours of the thread to the patterned fabric.  Her sister made a stencil of the “R” using her Cricut which Kerry then transferred to the fabric.

That is a heck of a lot of FRENCH KNOTS.  Mary Corbet of NeedleNThread shared this project several years ago – you can find her post HERE.  Mary also offers a great video tutorial on how to create French Knots so you might want to check this out.

Although Kerry did not use my floss for this project I think it would look beautiful with hand dyed floss on a subtle patterned fabric background 🙂

Thank you for sharing this Kerry – it is beautiful and no doubt your Mom treasures it. Thank you to Mary Corbet for her fabulous videos.
