NEEDLEPOINT

A gorgeous example of NEEDLEPOINT today.  As you all know, I love to receive photographs of projects created using my threads so you can imagine how thrilled I was to receive this.  Barb stitched this lovely design using several Colour Complements threads.  The pattern is a design by Laura Perin called Ribbons with Monogram originally offered as a cyber class in 2015.  I am not sure this particular pattern is available but there is one very similar on her website HERE.

Barb writes, “true to form, I had to tweak the design by changing out canvas, threads and beads for embellishment.  I have a really hard time stitching any project completely as designed”.  I can so relate to this!  Like Barb, there are many times I find the need to tweak a design a bit to “customize” it.

Barb used a two-toned canvas in pale camel and light brown.  She chose DMC size 5 perle #738 & #437 (parchment & dark parchment) and combine these with a selection of my older colours – a mossy green, plums and a multi blend.  She also used some Edmar Lola in plums and pinks as well as YLI ribbon floss in mauve and cinnamon/gold.  She changed the monogram to a “B” and plans to frame the completed project in a lovely Victorian frame she had.  One of the two DMC flosses and both of the ribbon flosses were actually as called for in Laura’s original design.  The cyber class included a piece of canvas – also two-toned – but I changed it out for a different colour combo canvas.

AND, the entire project!  I love it Barb – thank you for sharing.  Thank you to Laura for another great design.
