halloween-colour-palette

As we dive into the spirit of Halloween, we’ve chosen to step away from the usual and traditional colours of black, purple, and orange hues. Instead, we are presenting you with a playful and imaginative Halloween-inspired palette. It creatively interprets other colours you may see during the spooky season!

At the heart of this palette lies Colour #189, a fun blend of purple, yellow, turquoise, and green. It’s a combination I’ve showcased multiple times on the blog. I even entertained using this blend’s turquoise/aqua aspect in a previous post. If you’re curious, there’s a stitch sample video dedicated to Colour #189, showcasing how it comes to life in your stitching.

Screech is also worth checking out if you like this captivating colour blend.

How we created this Halloween Colour palette

While it would be an obvious choice to select turquoise, aquas and lime green, we have opted to combine it with the following colours:

We opted to draw on the purple in the blend by adding colour #183, then #18 to highlight the greens and finally, colour #191, which draws on the yellows.

Our needlepoint sample measures 2 ½ inches on 18-count mono canvas. The pattern is designed by SuLar, called Stepping Stones for Rainbow Gallery, and is offered complimentary on their website.

You have many choices to expand on this palette, including golden yellows, purples, greens and turquoise/aquas. Always remember that value is an important point to consider when creating any palette. I’ve discussed this many times but choose light, medium and dark weights in solids of any of the colours in the blend. You may decide not to use them, but if you can “see” them together, you can choose as you stitch.
