Carnival Thread Kit

  • Size 5 perle cotton colours – 32, 37, 39, 44, 45, 46, 137, 187, 188, 189
  • Size 8 perle cotton colours – 18, 37, 46, 137, 183,187,
  • 6 strand cotton floss colours – 39, 44, 46, 188
  • Total of 180 meters/196.85 yards

Carnival is the third and final heart featured in the May/June 2021 issue of Needlepoint Now designed by Dragonlady Canvaswork Designs.  Cleopatra’s Heart was the first and Mardi Gras was the second.  Check out the first and second issues this year (2021) for the patterns.

A little about Carnival
After Susan completed the previous hearts, I asked that she design another using a bolder colour palette.  She did and a Carnival of colours is the result!

What do you need?
You will find the pattern in the May/June issue of Needlepoint Now so make sure you pick up your copy.  You can find it online HERE.  You will also need to purchase 18 count mono canvas, colour choice is yours but remember all the stitching will cover the canvas so we opted for white.

The thread kit contents include ALL the threads required to stitch the heart with the exception of a very small amount of Kreinik braid (or metallic of your choice) likely found in your stash.  There should be sufficient threads to complete TWO Carnival hearts as all the stitches use less than 5 meters/5.5 yards.  Many use even less.  Perhaps double sided!!!

The design is more challenging to stitch than both Cleopatra’s Heart and Mardi Gras but the results are worth it!

    This is the second time I’ve had the pleasure to review Colour Complements threads. I am now on the third heart in the series and wish there were more to come. The threads are beautiful and great to work with. The hearts are bright and shiny and, once started, hard to put down. If you love counted thread stitching with lots of fun stitches, these are the projects for you.
